Discussion on “Being Artist. Being Aware. Being Arab American” in Nasawiya

This Friday, Nasawiya will be hosting a very interesting discussion with Happy/L.A. Hyder, entitled “Being Artist. Being Aware. Being Arab American”!

Happy/L.A. Hyder, visual artist & writer, American born of Lebanese ancestry, activist in the arts with attention to civil and social justice issues. “Being Artist. Being Aware. Being Arab American.” was first presented at the Arab American National Museum’s DIWAN forum for the arts on the panel: Out of Place: How Arab American Art Helps Us Find Our Way Home – Navigating hybrid identities and conceptualizing homeland.  

     A self-taught artist, fine art color photography, mixed-media & installation are her visual art mediums, while her writing spans the erotic to the philosophic. This past year, Happy art directed a staged reading of Bareed Mista3jil in the San Francisco Bay Area, shaping the script as well as directing the reading. This is her first visit to Lebanon, where she has learned in one week how to dodge a scooter and a taxi at the same time.
