The coalition to legislate the protection of women from domestic violence, headed by Kafa, has launched the campaign
-«حياة النساء أهم من كراسيكم»(The protection of Women is more important than your seats) -  on the 29th of January. here’s the link to the launching: https://www.facebook.com/events/556922660994346/

The campaign – a continuation of the 5-yr long process of lobbying of legislators to pass the domestic violence law drafted by the coalition back in 2007 – has started with a letter from a violence survivor to Berri demanding him to open the parliament so MP resume their work on the law and will culminate in a massive protest/march on Sunday the 24th of Feb.

From now until the 24th, Kafa will be gradually publishing letters and statements by domestic violence survivors to further sensitise the public about the issue and to send messages of support with the women survivors themselves. There will also be different actions (mouzaharat tayyara) on Saturday February 16th – we will split into small groups of 6 or 7 and go into neighborhoods and streets distributing flyers, talking to people and mobilising for the protest.

There are two ways of getting involved:

In the Feb.16 actions: If you want to distribute flyers and tell people in the streets about VAW and the protest on the 24th, write to: nayelrahi@gmail.com

Spread the word about and mobilise for the campaign and protest on social media platforms (via blogs, fb and twitter). The hashtags used are #StopVAW (violence against women) and #Feb24.
