  • Join us on this Thursday, May 17th at 7 PM at Nasawiya to start a new series of discussions on unpacking masculinities.

    We’ll be presenting some anecdotes and images to open up a discussion on masculinities and feminism.

    What are masculinities? How are they constructed? How do we see ‘men’ and how do ‘men’ see themselves? We don’t have any answers, but we’re looking forward to putting these questions, and many others, up for discussion.

    Discussion will be in arabic and English, whatever one feel more comfortable at.

    منذ ٦٤ عاماً وفلسطين تعلّمنا كيف نثابر، كيف نجعل من الانتفاضة

    والمقاومة خبزنا اليومي، علّمتنا ان لا نثق بحكامنا، علمتنا ان الحرية لا تنتجها سوى الشعوب، علمتنا قبل ان نعلم، كيف نقول “الشعب يريد”.

     

    ولما بدأت الشعوب العربية بتردادها، عرفنا حينها ان حرية فلسطين هي من حرية الشعوب العربية، عرفنا حينها ان معركتنا مع الاحتلال والامبريالية، هي معركتنا ضد انظمتنا، ضد البؤس والانهزام، ضد العمالة والفقر وضد الاستبداد والديكتاتورية.

     

    فمن المحيط الى الخليج، نرى كيف تخرج النساء والرجال، والاطفال والكهول، يبنون/نين الحرية، يوماً بعد يوم، من المعتقل، الى الساحات، وفي المظاهرات، وفي شهدائهم/ن يبنون تراثاً آخر، تراثاً يتكلّم عن الحرية والعدالة والنضال.

     

    ومن تونس الى مصر وسوريا، الى البحرين واليمن والسعودية، ومن فلسطين الى كل مدينة عربية، المعركة واحدة، معركة الشعوب ضد حكامها وضد الاحتلال والصهيونية.

     

    فما يجمع بين سلامة كيلة ورزان غزاوي وعبد الهادي الخواجة وجميع معتقلي/ات الرأي في السجون العربية، وبين احمد سعدات وبلال دياب وثائر حلاحلة في سجون الاحتلال الاسرائيلي، هو اكبر من السجون التي تحتجزهم/ن، هو مسيرة حرية جميع الشعوب العربية ضد الاستبداد والاحتلال، ما يجمعهم هو النضال، هو عدم المساومة على حق الشعوب بالمقاومة والثورة.

Kathleen will focus her talk on sponsorship system reforms, prospects, and challenges. The discussion will also extend to a few other issues as well (for example concerning maximizing the reach/impact of the upcoming release of UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery’s report on Lebanon, etc…)
