How We Work

Membership in Nasawiya is open to any individual who believes in our values and would like to support and work on any one of our causes through different initiatives. Initiatives can be programs, projects, campaigns, services, or events that advance a cause. Members can work on any one of our existing projects or they are free to create and run initiatives independently and in sync with our general goals. While we are not a grant-making group, we’ll be creating a quarterly assessment window, during which members can apply for limited funding for their initiatives.

Each initiative shall have a committee and interested members are invited to sign up for the committee of their choice, depending on their personal interests and their expertise in the specific cause(s). Each committee shall have a secretary who is in constant contact with the general coordinator. The idea is very simple: Find a need, fill a need. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re doing to promote and advance our feminist causes through initiatives.

The member who suggests an initiative can automatically become the secretary of the related committee. Alternatively, committee members can nominate a secretary. It will be up to the committee members to divvy up and coordinate the work amongst themselves.

Members can join as many committees as they’d like.

Members can work on as many causes as they’d like.

Members are asked to pay a minimal yearly contribution depending on their capacity ranging between LBP 5,000  and LBP 50,000.

Contributions will go into a small fund to support members’ own initiatives.
